Hiking: our must-see trails departing from the resort of Tignes!

What do you think of Tignes in summer? It's THE ideal destination for a successful summer holiday in the mountains! There's lots to do & lots of great hiking to discover. In this article, we present 3 not-to-be-missed hikes departing from the resort of Tignes! Let's go 😋

1. A sporty hike with an exceptional view!

Head for the Aiguille Percée: a must-do hike from Tignes to a summit with an atypical geological formation!

🏁⎜Start point - Palafour chairlift in Tignes le Lac.

🏃🏼⎜Let's go for a 700m ascent hike! We'll take you with us to discover the viewpoints you shouldn't miss:

  • At La Croix, take a short break to admire the view of Lac de Tignes & the Tufs! 🛶

  • Take the alternative route via Lac du Chardonnet: the more adventurous will be able to dip their toes in the water, while others will appreciate the coolness and the view of the many peaks! Will you recognize the Grande-Motte & Sassière glaciers? ⛰️

  • Attack the second part of the climb towards the Palafour summit, where we recommend a well-deserved picnic break. 🥪 The plus? A 360° panorama!
  • Let's set off for the final ascent to the summit of the Aiguille Percée at 2740m! When the weather's fine, you'll be sure to catch a glimpse of Mont Blanc... For the descent, there are several well-marked itineraries to choose from. It's up to you to decide how you'd like to end this wonderful day.

A little tip from the ExplorHome team: when the days get shorter, a hike at the end of the day is the promise of sumptuous sunsets! And that's why Indian summer is our favorite season in Tignes... 🍂

2. A family walk to the summit...

Fancy a hike that's accessible to all, without missing out on the exceptional scenery that can only be seen from the summits? Then this is the route for you.

🏁⎜Starting point - Climb aboard the Tufs chairlift.

In summer, Tignes lifts are accessible to pedestrians! 🚠
Enjoy unlimited lift access with the MyTignes card.

🏃🏼‍♀️⎜Beware your eyes: breathtaking views all along this walk. Once you've reached the top, there are several options open to you.

  • Some will enjoy a stroll along the ridges to admire the peaks. A sunny break in front of these landscapes will be a good idea! You can also take the gondola downhill.
  • Others may prefer to take a longer, family-friendly loop! To do this, head for the Col de Fresse, where you branch off towards Val d'Isère. The trail is undulating and presents no particular difficulties. And who knows? You might even come across a few animals! 🦅

3. A walk along the river in Tignes.

Have you ever wondered where to swim in Tignes?

What if we told you there was a turquoise water lagoon accessible from the Tignes resort in less than 30 minutes on foot? 🏝️

🏁⎜Starting point - Route de la Ferme

🏃🏼⎜Somewhat atypical: the walk begins with a descent! To reach the Gouille du Salin, always take the right-hand path. After half an hour's walk, you'll discover this heavenly spot with its crystal-clear water. Perhaps the bravest of you will dare to take a dip? 🧊

  • After this refreshing break, retrace your steps to take the path down to the gouille du Salin waterfall. Part of the route follows the botanical trail, which is particularly rich in flowers in July! 🌸
  • Want to keep going? After the waterfall, continue your descent to Lac du Chevril, where you'll find a path running along the shore. The return journey via the Bois de la Laye balconies offers lovely views of this turquoise lake.

4. Lots to do in Tignes in summer!

Who said summer in the mountains was only for hikers? Tignes has a lot more to offer! 😍
